Born in Gunma Prefecture in 1956, the artist worked for a taxidermy company, where they acquired skills in ivory carving. They began creating netsuke in 1997. Known for meticulous observation and a strong pursuit of realism, the artist brings lifelike presence to their works through refined coloring techniques. Using ivory and deer antler, they intricately carve animals such as fish and plants, as well as everyday subjects like hot-pot dishes and sushi, creating works that convey a sense of warmth and connection to daily life.
